Reflecting the Heart of Jesus

If you’re looking for a daily devotional that sets your mind on things above and focuses on the heart of Jesus, then “A Woman Who Reflects the Heart of Jesus” by Elizabeth George was written for you.

Unlike any other Elizabeth George book I’ve read, this one is written as a devotional that can be read in a month by reading a chapter or day, or can be stretched out by reading one a week, focusing on each character quality more extensively. The characteristics are in alphabetical order, beginning with “Approachable”, and ending with “Worship”. Others included are “Compassionate”, “Faithful”, “Humble”, “Prayerful” and “Thankful”, to name a few.

I love her writing style and how personal it is. It’s engaging and entertaining while also enlightening and encouraging. She shares from her personal experiences as well as from close friends and family who influenced her. She also uses many Biblical examples from both the Old and New Testaments and applies their stories to our life in the 21st century. But of course, she uses the greatest example of all, the only One who perfectly portrays each virtue: and that is Jesus Himself.

In each chapter I read, there was always something meaningful and helpful for me to take away, whether it be just one sentence, one paragraph, or the whole chapter! This is a great devotional or study for any woman after God’s own heart!

I received this book free from Harvest House Publishers in exchange for an honest review.
